« Animating workshops on ageism for the Observatory on Aging and Society (OVS) has been a great pleasure for me. I have met over 500 people from over 25 community organizations, mainly seniors, but including children, youth, young adults and program coordinators. Most of the 37 workshops to the English communities were reached by zoom, which was quite a challenge for me but this was during the Covid-19 pandemic when ageism was clearly identified by journalists and social media. What made me most happy was not only spreading awareness about ageism but we also prevented isolation of many persons at this difficult time and enabled them to express their thoughts and feelings about the loss of their loved ones. I was able to travel throughout the Quebec province without getting on one aeroplane and discovered the magic as well as the challenges of technology. I loved to hear the stories of the people I met and maybe helped them to face their fears about growing older a little. I am grateful that OVS has given me this opportunity which motivates me to continue. »
